Manchester United Football Club has unveiled their 2020\/21 adidas third kit. The shirt introduces a visually distinctive design, inspired by striped jerseys from the club\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From United\u2019s first striped kit over 100 years ago, to the eye-catching designs of the 1970s and 80s, the latest release aims to provide a fresh update to tradition, while delivering a vibrant new print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To create this new design, adidas re-drew, hacked and re-imagined combined elements from various jerseys throughout the club\u2019s long history to create a bold new pattern. Utilising United\u2019s iconic club colours of red, white and black the kit is an original story with a modern update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is surprising, unexpected and demonstrates a continued ambition to push the boundaries of shirt design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of the Manchester United 20\/21 third jersey follows the launches of the new home kit<\/a>, which celebrates the club\u2019s DNA with an imprint of \u201cMANCHESTER UNITED\u201d running through the shirt, and an away jersey<\/a> which pays homage to the club\u2019s famous travelling away support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manchester United\u2019s relationship with all-over stripes goes back to the team\u2019s first year at its home in Old Trafford, when the team wore a classic blue and white striped shirt as the alternative kit. The collar on this new jersey features a \u2018110 years of stripes\u2019 sign off, signifying the history of the club\u2019s jerseys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most memorably, adidas brought disruptive jersey graphics into the world of football at the end of the 1980s, causing a visual revolution in shirt design.
