Coventry City 2026/27 Third Kit | hummel x Detroit City FC

Coventry City and hummel have released the club’s 2026/27 third kit, a purple design created in partnership with USL Championship side Detroit City FC.

The two clubs are building the launch around a shared “Motor City” identity, tying Coventry’s manufacturing history to Detroit’s, with a joint reveal event that lets supporters connected to Detroit City FC watch Coventry play from roughly 4,000 miles away. The release departs from Coventry’s usual sky blue identity, which is set aside here for a limited third-kit run rather than the club’s primary colors.

The Coventry City 2026/27 hummel third shirt is built on a purple base overlaid with a halftone dot pattern that shifts from a dark, near-black purple across the shoulders into a vivid orange-red toward the hem, producing a gradient effect down the body. Rather than sitting in straight rows, the dots curve and ripple in wave-like bands across the fabric.

A lighter lilac crew neck collar finishes the top, white panelling runs down each side of the torso, and hummel’s chevron branding appears in white on the shoulders. The club crest, usually shown in multiple colors, is rendered entirely in white on this design.

The Detroit City FC tie-in is framed around parallels between the two clubs’ home cities: Coventry and Detroit both built early 20th-century economies on car manufacturing, both have long-running football and soccer traditions, and both are associated with notable music movements, Coventry’s 2 Tone ska scene among them.

hummel and the two clubs describe the collaboration as a way of marking that shared history, with the launch event bringing fans of both clubs into the same reveal rather than treating it as a standard kit drop.

Coventry City will wear the hummel third kit during their 2026/27 season, which includes a return to the Premier League as well as campaigns in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
