Sunderland 2026/27 Jersey: hummel Third Kit Released

Sunderland has released its 2026/27 third kit, produced by hummel, ahead of a season that will see the club compete in the Premier League, EFL Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

The 26/27 third shirt design draws on Sunderland’s history of glassmaking, a craft with roots stretching back centuries in the city. The earliest known example of stained glass in Sunderland dates from the seventh century, and that heritage is reflected in a repeating pattern across the shirt, formed from a stained-glass depiction of the football taken from within the club’s ship crest.

A range of blue tones runs through the pattern, capturing the effect of sunlight passing through glass. The color palette is intended as a visual representation of Sunderland AFC’s journey from darkness into light, tying the shirt’s aesthetic to a broader narrative about the club’s history.

Further details are finished in copper, including the club’s ship crest positioned on the chest and matching hummel chevrons across the shoulders. The exterior back of the neck carries the words “Glass Making Since The 7th Century,” also rendered in copper, connecting the shirt’s design to both the club and the city’s craft heritage.

The third kit forms part of a wider Sunderland 2026/27 matchday collection. The same stained-glass concept also appears across the club’s warm-up range, presented there through a more detailed line depiction of the pattern, extending the design across multiple pieces of kit for the season.
