Borussia Dortmund 2026 Rote Erde PUMA Kit

Borussia Dortmund has unveiled a “Rote Erde” kit for the rest of the German Bundesliga season, marking the 100th anniversary of the historic Rote Erde Stadium. The BVB 2026 special-edition shirt highlights design elements deeply connected to the venue’s heritage, reflecting the enduring character of the ground that first opened in 1926. Blending tradition and symbolism, the release captures a century of significance for both the stadium and the club.

The first Borussia Dortmund 2026 shirt’s pattern draws inspiration from Rote Erde’s architectural identity, particularly the two entrance gates and the renowned Marathon Gate. Its sleeves, collar, and lettering pay tribute to the stadium’s signature running track, a long-standing feature framing decades of sporting moments. These subtle yet meaningful design cues link the past and present, emphasizing Borussia Dortmund’s connection to its historical roots while preparing for the modern football stage.

Adding further historical resonance, the gold tones of the BVB logo are derived from the sandstone walls that have surrounded the Rote Erde since its opening. This material influence shapes the jersey’s distinctive texture and color palette, reinforcing its sense of authenticity. On the back of the neck, the inscription “100 Jahre Stadion Rote Erde” (“100 Years of Rote Erde Stadium”) completes the tribute, serving as a visible reminder of the club’s enduring legacy at its first true home.

Rote Erde, originally inaugurated as the “Kampfbahn Rote Erde” in June 1926, has played a defining role in Borussia Dortmund’s identity. From 1936 to 1974, it hosted BVB’s first team and several iconic matches, including the storied contest against Benfica Lisbon in December 1963 often remembered as the “match of the century.”

Today, the stadium continues to serve as the home of Borussia Dortmund’s U23 and women’s teams, maintaining its position as a vital part of the club’s sporting culture.
