West Ham United Football Club and Iron Maiden have teamed up to release a new football shirt celebrating two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Hammers’ 1975 FA Cup triumph and the founding of the iconic heavy metal band.
Part of the popular ‘Die With Your Boots On’ apparel line, the Claret and Blue shirt is now available for fans to purchase at the West Ham online store. It follows a year of commemorative events that included Iron Maiden’s sold-out concert at London Stadium earlier this year, marking a fusion of football and music history in east London.
Iron Maiden founder, bassist, and chief songwriter Steve Harris—himself a lifelong West Ham supporter and former youth player—was joined by the band’s mascot Eddie on stage during the concert. Both wore the special edition shirt to the delight of a 65,000-strong crowd.
The West Ham x Iron Maiden 50th Anniversary shirt combines classic club aesthetics with Iron Maiden branding, featuring the 1975 FA Cup Final badge, traditional Claret and Blue trim, the band’s logo across the chest, and “IMFC” on the right breast. Made from hexagon polyester fabric, the design also showcases Harris’ famous No. 11 on the back, alongside a unique Hammer and Bass guitar crest inscribed with “Est. 1975.” The collaboration captures the powerful link between West Ham and Iron Maiden—rooted in Harris’ lifelong passion for the club.
Following the band’s London Stadium performance, Iron Maiden even took part in a friendly against a West Ham United staff XI at The Foundry, the club’s community hub that supports over 60,000 people each year.
Reflecting on West Ham’s famous 1975 FA Cup victory, Harris recalled: “I wasn’t at the game but what great memories. Two goals from Alan Taylor and we won it! Frank Lampard and Pat Holland were in the team who used to coach me as a junior as well! Come On You Irons!”
That connection came full circle when Harris took to the stage this summer wearing the new shirt during the band’s encore. “The day really was something special and I didn’t really take it all in until much later” recollects Steve. “We’d been wearing that shirt in all our football matches this season across Europe including the game at West Ham United’s amazing, redeveloped community hub ‘The Foundry’, so it just felt like the right thing to do. There were so many of our previous football shirts in the crowd – I hope fans grab this one too to remind them of that day.”
The surprise of the night came when Eddie also appeared wearing the same shirt. “I didn’t know about that” laughs Steve “but I should have guessed… it was so great how they replaced West Ham Team stuff in the Dressing Room (It had been stripped for the off-season in preparation for the new 25/26 decorations), how they made the match day programme and how the after party in the Great Briton Suite was all dressed with IMFC stuff. It was a day I’ll always remember.”
