Sunderland AFC has revealed their new home kit for the 2025/26 season, developed in partnership with hummel. The design draws direct inspiration from the club’s 1986-88 kit while incorporating contemporary elements that celebrate the city of Sunderland itself.
The most notable change is the return of a centrally positioned club crest, marking the first time since the 1990s that the badge has been placed in this traditional location on the Sunderland 2025/26 home shirt.
This repositioning signals a clear nod to the club’s heritage while establishing a visual identity for the upcoming campaign across Premier League, EFL Cup, and FA Cup competitions.
Modern architectural elements define the Sunderland 25/26 home kit’s aesthetic through subtle design details. The white stripes incorporate a vertical pattern inspired by the newly constructed Keel Crossing bridge, connecting the shirt’s design directly to Sunderland’s evolving cityscape. This bridge motif extends beyond the shirt’s main design, with the structure’s outline featured at the nape of the neck.
The connection between city and club is reinforced through the collar’s interior messaging. “Connecting The City & Stadium” is printed inside the collar, emphasizing the relationship between Sunderland AFC and the wider community. These design choices reflect both the club’s roots and the city’s ongoing development, creating a kit that represents present-day Sunderland.
