Athletic Club 2025/26 Castore Home Kit

Athletic Club has revealed their new home kit for the 2025/26 season, manufactured by Castore, featuring distinctive retro elements that honor both club heritage and Basque cultural traditions. The design centers around commemorating the centenary of the Pichichi bust’s installation at San Mamés, which took place in December 1926, creating a direct link between the club’s storied past and its future campaigns.

The kit design incorporates the Eguzkilore, a silver thistle flower deeply rooted in Basque mythology and cultural identity. According to traditional beliefs, the Eguzkilore serves as protection against evil spirits while symbolizing the resilience and strength characteristic of the Basque people due to its ability to survive in challenging climates. This botanical symbol appears as a subtle design element positioned at the back of the players’ necks, extending the century-old tradition of floral offerings made to the Pichichi bust by visiting teams at San Mamés.

Athletic Bilbao will wear this new kit throughout their 2025/26 Spanish LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Champions League campaigns, carrying the symbolic weight of both sporting ambition and cultural heritage onto the pitch. The timing of the kit’s release coincides with the approaching centennial anniversary of one of San Mamés’ most distinctive traditions, where visiting teams present floral tributes to the Pichichi bust during their inaugural official matches at the stadium known as The Cathedral.

The design philosophy behind the kit follows the trilingual slogan “Zaharrak Berri / Built from Tradition / Unidos a la Tradición,” emphasizing the seamless integration of historical elements with contemporary athletic wear. This approach reflects Athletic Club’s commitment to maintaining their unique identity while embracing modern performance standards. The red and white color scheme remains faithful to the club’s traditional palette while incorporating the silver thistle motif as a connecting thread between past and present.

The complete kit ensemble includes black shorts and socks with red and white finishing details, creating a cohesive visual identity that balances Athletic Club’s traditional colors with the commemorative design elements.
