PUMA and Borussia Dortmund (BVB) today presented the German Bundesliga club’s away kit for the 2023/24 season, inspired by the fans’ ‘Echte Liebe’ or ‘true love’ for the club. The jersey was designed by a fan who participated in the home kit design contest, which received more than 15,000 entries from passionate supporters.
The black BVB 23/24 alternate jersey features a gray print pattern that represents the aerial view of Borsigplatz square, the historic site where BVB was founded in 1909. The design is a tribute to the club’s origins and its connection to the city of Dortmund and its football culture.
The Borussia Dortmund 2023/24 PUMA away shirt is completed by a black round collar and yellow details on the sleeves and edges, reflecting the iconic black and yellow colors of BVB.
Marco Mueller, PUMA Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel, expressed his excitement, stating, “We were overwhelmed with the number of submissions from fans that we just had to bring this initiative back for the away kit. The design selected is a profound tribute to Borsigplatz and serves as a constant reminder of Dortmund’s rich footballing legacy.”
“We received so many fantastic kit designs from our fans. One in particular really stood out and got the jury excited. We felt this black design was a natural pick to inspire our away jersey and we are very happy with the final result,” Carsten Cramer, Borussia Dortmund Managing Director added.
