hummel has reissued the iconic Denmark 1986 World Cup away kit as part of its 100th Anniversary celebrations. The Denmark men’s national team will wear the throwback jersey for their UEFA EURO 2024 qualifier against Northern Ireland on 16 June in Parken.

“The World Cup in Mexico wrote itself into Danish football history in many ways. Although the eye-catching 86 shirt divided opinion at the time, it has since achieved great recognition and won several international awards as one of the most iconic designs ever. Therefore, we also think it is obvious to celebrate it together with DBU as part of our 100-year celebration,” says hummel CEO, Allan Vad Nielsen.

The match against Northern Ireland marks the start of the 100th anniversary campaign for hummel that will see the design of the 1986 shirt used by several of hummel’s professional club partners.

Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU) Director of Football Peter Møller is thrilled that hummel and DBU can kickstart the celebration of one of the most iconic national team shirts in history.

“We all love national team shirts because they show the pride it is to play for the Danish national football team. The shirt from VM86 is very special and has been voted one of the most beautiful several times. Therefore, we are also incredibly happy that we can send our national team on the pitch against Northern Ireland wearing the 86 shirt and help bring memories to life for the Danish fans and at the same time mark our clothing sponsor’s beautiful 100th anniversary,” says Peter Møller.
