Le Coq Sportif, the official technical sponsor of the South African Football Association (SAFA), has revealed the new home, away and third kits for the South Africa national teams’ 2023/24 international season. The new kits are inspired by the country’s history, culture and achievements in football.
The South Africa 2023/24 Le Coq Sportif home jersey carries the South African flag in both the front and back panel, embodying nationhood, patriotism and essence of Ubuntu. The flag is also present on the sleeves and collar, while the SAFA logo is placed on the left chest. The jersey is predominantly yellow with green accents, reflecting the colors of the South African flag and the nickname of the national team, Bafana Bafana.
South Africa’s 23/24 Le Coq Sportif away jersey is a celebration of Banyana Banyana’s success in at Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022. The team wore green when it beat Morocco 2-1 in the AFCON Final last July. The jersey is mainly green with yellow details. It features a subtle pattern of geometric shapes on the front, representing the diversity and unity of South Africa.
The South Africa 2023/23 Le Coq Sportif third kit, also known as the Legacy Jersey, dropped just in time to celebrate Freedom Day on April 27th. The jersey is a tribute to the 1996 African Cup of Nations champions, who wore white with black and gold trimmings when they lifted the trophy on home soil. The shirt has a retro look based on the South Africa 1996 Kappa home kit.
The South Africa 2023/24 Le Coq Sportif home, away and third kits will be in the international spotlight when Banyana Banyana meets Sweden, Argentina, and Italy in the group stage of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
