2021/22 Kits
Up-Close: Trinidad & Tobago 2021/22 BOL Home and Away Kits
FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifiers and eight-time Caribbean Cup champions Trinidad and Tobago are now outfitted by Miami-based soccer specialist BOL Football. The Soca Warriors debuted their striking 2021/22 BOL home and away kits to much interest during recent World Cup qualifying action. Here is a World Exclusive look at the Made in Brazil shirts that will be worn by the T&T men’s, women’s, and youth national teams over the next year.
Design and Details
The Trinidad and Tobago home and away kits use an eye-catching soccer jersey design from BOL that is a breath of fresh air in a genre in which creativity by larger sportswear firms seems to be on the decline.
The template in question uses a light, flowing fabric with a v-neck made up of two wide overlapping pieces. One half of the front neckline recreates the look of the black diagonal line of the Trinidadian national flag on both shirts. Relatively wide sleeve cuffs use the same fabric finish as the jerseys’ collar.
Ventilated side panels run along the sides and underarms while the waistline is punctuated with a dropped tail. The BOL logo and Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) crest are made of thermo-applied TPU to create 3D effects.
BOL has gone above and beyond the call of duty by incorporating elements of Trinidad and Tobago’s culture and heritage into the Soca Warriors 2021/22 kits. The degree to which is done is unlike anything that we have ever seen before in national football team shirts.
The Trinidad and Tobago 21/22 BOL home kit is in the customary primary red of the islands’ soccer shirts. A series of sublimated bands with tonal designs run along the front and back of the kit. They include:
– The steel drums and accompanying pan sticks that are native to Trinidad and Tobago. The musical instrument remains the only one invented over the course of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
– Stylized ocean waves and seashells representing T&T’s famed wide, sandy beaches.
– The texture of a turtle shell that celebrates Trinidad and Tobago’s status as a nesting destination for five of the world’s seven ocean faring turtle species.
– Soccer ball panels under the TTFA and BOL logos in recognition of the country’s footballing history.
Tonal prints of Trinidad and Tobago’s flora and fauna appear on the home kit’s ventilation panels to good effect. This is a first in the world of soccer jerseys as such areas of shirts are typically unadorned.
The Trinidad and Tobago 21/22 BOL away kit sticks with Soca Warriors tradition by using a white base. This works well as a background for the large print in T&T’s national colors of red, white, and black on the front left of the jersey. The image continues onto the left back area of the shirt.
The graphic in question celebrates Trinidad and Tobago’s annual Carnival that occurs during the last two days before Lent. The festival culminates with revelers masquerading in the streets of T&T’s capital city of Port of Spain in the well-organized Parade of the Bands (an event frequented by global celebrities such as Lily Singh, Nicki Minaj, and Ludacris).
The sublimated artwork on the Trinidad and Tobago away kit is of one of the aforementioned masqueraders in their Carnival costume. The regalia worn is based on Native American attire in a nod to some of the 1940s to 1960s Trinidad Carnival costumes that were inspired by American Western movies. The masquerader’s outfit is carefully complemented with Trini steelpan earrings and seashells.
The side and underarm panels on the Trinidad and Tobago 2021/22 BOL away kit are detailed with the smaller versions of the imagery that appears on the front and back of the home jersey.
Fit and Feel
The Trinidad and Tobago 2021/22 BOL home and away kits are true to size-fitting affairs. We recommend getting them in your usual size for an optimal fit. They use contemporary slimmer fits that work best with toned athletic physiques. Go with a size up if you are not quite match fit yet.
The material that BOL uses for the jerseys is extremely lightweight and comfortable. It feels almost like a satin sheet to the touch and is therefore something that you can rock all day in warmer weather. At the same time, the fabric does not hold moisture and rapidly dissipates sweat when worn for any exercise activity.
Final Thoughts
BOL has made quite a statement with its brilliant Trinidad and Tobago 2021/22 home and away kits. They are among the best that we have seen thus far this year and are certainly must haves for Soca Warrior fans and football shirt collectors.
Hopefully, they will be on show at this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup 2021. T&T meets fellow BOL-sponsored team Montserrat in the first of potentially two Gold Cup qualifiers in two weeks from now.
