Ten-time Primera División champion Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield has released the 2021/22 version of its ‘Tricolor’ kit from technical sponsor Kappa Argentina.
The club nicknamed El Fortín (The Fort) debuted what is their third kit for the ongoing season during Saturday’s 5-0 Primera win over Gimnasia.
The jersey features stripes in the red, green and white in recognition of Vélez Sarsfield’s ties to the Italian immigrant community of early twentieth century Buenos Aires. The Italian national flag colors formed the basis of Vélez’ home kits from 1914 to 1933. The team crest from this period is used in place of the current Vélez Sarsfield badge.
Modern transition effects are applied within the stripes on the back of the shirt to create gradient effects between the green and red areas of the kit.
The Vélez Sarsfield 21/22 Tricolor shirt is matched with white shorts and socks with red and green details.
