New Balance Football and la Federación Costarricense de Fútbol (FEDEFUTBOL) have revealed the home and away jerseys that will be worn by the Costa Rica men’s and women’s national teams in 2021.
The red home and white away shirts are inspired by Costa Rica’s natural features and biodiversity. As such, their designs highlight the ecological wealth of Costa Rica as a tribute to the deep conservationist tradition of the Tico people.
The garments are made with lightweight NB Dry technology which allows for quick drying. The 2021/21 kits are partially made with recycled plastic to support Costa Rica’s culture of sustainability.
Vitor Abreu, New Balance Sports Marketing Manager for Latin America, stated that the company is honored to present the kits.
“We worked with the Federation to develop a unique pattern that represents the biodiversity of the country. The large number of species in Costa Rica served as the inspiration for this design, which creates its own ‘fingerprint’,” Abreu said.
FIFA World Cup quarter-finalists in 2014, the Costa Rica men’s senior national team returns to competitive action at the CONCACAF Gold Cup next summer.
