Brazilian giants Palmeiras today revealed their 2020/21 home and away kits from PUMA Brasil.
The white away jersey will make its debut on Wednesday night when Verdão (Big Green) meets Argentina’s Tigre in Copa Libertadores action.
The campaign “Uma Camisa com História” (A Shirt with History) was used to launch the new shirts. It shows supporters around Brazil wearing the 2020/21 PUMA kits, reinforcing the history and plurality of the Brazilian team. Current squad players such as William, Matías Viña, Gabriel Veron, Gustavo, and Karen Xavier, Agostina and Juliana, from the women’s team, participated in the launch. The video is narrated by the brazilian rapper Rincon Sapiência, and also presents the eternal team’s idol Ademir da Guia.
The campaign and the new shirts were created to enhance the club’s history, built over 105 years, creating a feeling shared by the entire country. A phenomenon that was born from the dream of an immigrant colony, cultivated on the factory floor, which has become one of the biggest team fanbase in Brazil. The manifest highlights the foundation of the club by Italian immigrants who took root in the country, resulting in a plural club, closer to Brazilians.
“The PUMA campaign was created to highlight Palmeiras origin, seeking an even deeper history value. We talked about the immigrant, without referring only to the Italian origin, but rather celebrating it’s approximation with our country and the joint construction of a giant club”, says Fabio Kadow, PUMA Brasil marketing director.
“This is the second year of a partnership that has been extremely positive, everything we hoped for has come true. A club with a rich history that supports us to produce something for the fans to be proud of, in addition to all the professionalism and modernity”, added Kadow.
The Palmeiras 2020/21 home and away jerseys are inspired by the handbook that Italian immigrants received on their way to Brazil. PUMA’s team designers created, exclusively for Palmeiras, two unique prints, one for each model, with references to the historical document and the club.
“Palmeiras history is very rich and in this partnership with PUMA, we celebrate our path thought the shirts. We were born by the hands of Italian immigrants, we grow, became the Greatest Champion in Brazil and today we are a club for everyone, a family with more than 16 million members spread around the world”, Palmeiras President, Mauricio Galiotte concluded.
