Sportswear firm PUMA and the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) have extended their successful 45-year partnership on a long-term basis. The milestone hasbeen celebrated with the launch of the Austra UEFA EURO 2020 away jersey. It is the first to carry the new ÖFB crest.
“The cooperation with the ÖFB is a success story. For almost half a century, we have been developing innovative products and working closely together in product development. We are pleased that we continue our long-term, trusting cooperation “, says Matthias Bäumer, General Manager DACH of PUMA.
The design of the Austria EURO 2020 PUMA away kit is inspired by the “new Art Nouveau”, which the Austrian national team successfully embodies with its fast and creative style of play. With its combination of floral graphics, an iconic design pattern and timeless elements such as the Austrian lettering on the neck, it bridges the gap between tradition and modernity.
In the course of the design process, a new new ÖFB logo was also developed and carefully adapted to the visuality of the digital age, without neglecting its diverse history: ten eagle wings in the coat of arms symbolize the unity of the ten members of the ÖFB: the nine regional state associations and the Austrian football league.
“With PUMA, the ÖFB and the national teams have a 45-year partnership based on trust and mutual appreciation. Cooperation over such a long period of time proves that both sides benefit from it.
I am very pleased that PUMA continues to be loyal to us as a top outfitter in the long term and we are looking forward to the coming years with anticipation. In particular, we appreciate this partnership because PUMA operates at a very high level and sets new innovative standards time and again – as you can see from our new away shirt “, said ÖFB president dr. Leo Windtner.
The Austra 2020/21 alternate jersey is equipped with the PUMA dryCELL technology, which quickly wicks moisture away from the body and ensures high wearing comfort, as national player Marko Arnautovic confirms: “The new PUMA away shirt not only looks very good, it also feels very comfortable. From a design point of view, it is something completely different. I’m looking forward to it when we play for the first time on Saturday at the Ernst Happel Stadium. “
