Directly from the archivesof Italian football and renewed for a new generation of players, PUMA Football has created a green Italy 2019/20 third kit. It is inspired by the country’s Renaissance period and celebrates the many young talents contributing to the Azzurri’s recent successes.
The green color of the kit dates back to the “Maglia Verde” worn by Italy during a 2-0 win against Argentina in December 1954 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Italy’s national youth teams adopted green as their primary color for several years following the match.
The Italy senior men’s national team will debut their 2019/20 PUMA third kit when they meet Green in EURO 2020 qualifying on October 12th at the Stadio Olimpico.
Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina commented: “Green symbolizes the great work we are doing with young people and Mancini’s national team is an extraordinary example. We want to celebrate the renaissance of Italian football on and off the field, with a symbol that does not replaces blue, but makes it even brighter.”
