Corinthians 2018/19 Ayrton Senna Nike Third Kit

Last season’s Campeonato Brasileiro Série A champions Sport Club Corinthians Paulista have launched their 2018/19 third kit from official outfitter Nike Football. The jersey is dedicated to Corinthians fan and three-time Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna.

The new Timão (Great Team) kit is part of a Nike collection that has been unveiled 30 years after Ayrton Senna raised his first trophy in October 1988 in Suzuka, Japan.

According to Gustavo Viana, brand director for soccer at Nike do Brasil, this tribute shows how the driver continues to influence several generations. “Ayrton is still very present in the memory of us Brazilians and now this connection can be seen in one of the most relevant shirts in world football,” he said.

Based on Nike’s Vapor Match template,  the shirt is predominantly black with gold accents, reminiscent of the colors of the Lotus driven by Ayrton early in his career and considered one of the most beautiful models in F1 history. A set of gold lines, in the same shades as those used for the car, appear on the front of the shirt and represent each of the 41 victories that the driver has won throughout his career.

The typography of the numbers and letters of the Corinthians 2018/19 Nike third uniform is identical to that used in Senna’s original Lotus. The signature of Ayrton Senna, known worldwide, is printed between the gold lines. The result is a set of three tracks in representing the drive’s three world championships.

#SENNASEMPRE (Senna Forever) is printed in gold on the inside and neckline in celebration of the late driver’s eternal legacy.
