adidas today unveiled the FC Bayern München 2018/19 adidas UEFA Champions League jersey. The new FCB shirt will also serve as their third kit for the ongoing German Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal seasons.
Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer, Javi Martinez and the test of the German champions will run out in a steel-gray jersey during their Champions League away matches. The new kit results from cooperation of Bayern outfitter adidas and Parley for the Oceans.
The initiative is committed to protecting the oceans and has worked with adidas on several performance products on several occasions. Together, the “Ocean Plastic Program” aims to raise awareness of the critical state of the oceans.
Bayern Munich’s 2018/19 adidas third kits are made from Parley Ocean Plastic ™, yarns and fibers made from fully recycled and recycled plastic waste. The garbage was collected on beaches and coastal areas before it could reach the sea.
In addition to the production, the design of the jersey is also unique in that over the gray jersey, a pattern with lines of dots of different sizes appears. They symbolically represent water drops and waves. Narrow white stripes on the sides and a dark collar round off the design.
Jürgen Rank, Senior Design Director at adidas, said: “Each jersey we design is designed to be innovative while continuing adidas’ unique tradition.
Thanks to our partnership with Parley for the Oceans, we can drive this project forward more than ever before: not only does the match kit set new standards in terms of sustainability, but it also enables top athletic performance. We are very happy to bring this innovation to life together with FC Bayern.”
The FC Bayern 2018/19 adidas match range will be on sale at World Soccer Shop, Kitbag, Subside Sports, Lovell Soccer, Pro:Direct Soccer and UK Soccer Shop.
