Canada Soccer and Umbro have released the home jersey that the Canadian men’s and women’s national teams will wear during the 2018/19 international soccer season.
According the the association: Presented with the powerful words drawn from Canada’s national anthem – On Guard For Thee – the new jersey represents a dynamic and diverse nation from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Those four words will serve as a reminder of the nation that Canada represents every time the new jersey is worn in international competition.
The jersey is also inspired by one of Canada’s most symbolic emblems, the Canadian maple leaf. That leaf is featured prominently on the front of the jersey along with the clean classic lines that have come to define an Umbro Canada Soccer kit.
The back neck of the jersey features the Canadian flag in pride of place while the now iconic Canadian soundwave – representing the Canadian national anthem, inspired by Canadian supporters – remains prominent on the left hip.
Canada Soccer’s custom and distinctive “Les Rouges” font for lettering and numbering will continue to be featured. Each character symbolizes the strength of ice that is precisely chiseled to bring Canada’s northern beauty to light.
At the same time, the type face embodies the determination and resilience that Canada Soccer’s national teams demonstrate each time they step on the pitch to represent their country.
