New Balance has officially revealed the Republic of Ireland’s latest away kit. The kit will be worn by the team in the upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures and friendly matches during the 2017/18 football season. The launch is part of the ‘Is Féidir Linn Le Cheile’ (‘Together We Can’) campaign.
The 17/18 kit maintains the Republic of Ireland’s tradition of a white away jersey, with this edition featuring a tonal jacquard hoop throughout the body. The polo collar and cuffs are finished in a dark eden green fill, while the Irish tricolours featuring on the tip of the collar and on the inside of the cuffs. The cuffs can be worn either way to show the tricolor detail or to remain in eden green.
The shorts continue in the dark eden green with an alpha orange colour to the base of the shorts and a single white stripe down the side, echoing the colours of the Irish flag. The tricolour is repeated across the socks, which are white with an eden welt, tipped with alpha orange.
The kit has been developed using NB Dry technology, a moisture wicking fabric that helps keep players cool and dry whilst wicking sweat from the body, making it fast drying. Multi-directional stretch mesh under-arm, and a full mesh back panel to aid movement and airflow around the body.
Zonal cushioning integrated within the sock’s ankle and Achilles areas offers added support. The foot bed has been developed with polypropylene to alleviate excess moisture when the foot makes contact with the boot.
The goalkeeper kit has been engineered in line with the outfield players’ jerseys sporting a mock vent and full mesh back panel to compliment the outfield kit aesthetic.
General Manager of New Balance Football, Richard Wright stated: “We’re really proud of our first set of kits for the Republic of Ireland team. This new away shirt will be worn during some challenging matches away from home over the coming year and we can’t wait to see the team play in it. We look forward to seeing the fans reaction to the shirt and for them to wear it with pride while supporting the team.”
The full range of New Balance Republic of Ireland away kit products will be available at JD Sports, World Soccer Shop, Subside Sports, UK Soccer Shop and Kitbag from 10 August 2017.
