Reigning English Premier League champions Chelsea Football Club will wear Nike kits for the first time in the club’s illustrious 112-year history as they set about defending the league title and winning their second UEFA Champions League trophy during the 2017/18 season.

Unveiled today, The Blues’ 17/18 Nike home and away kits will be available at World Soccer ShopUK Soccer ShopSubside Sports, Lovell SoccerPro:Direct Soccer and Kitbag.

Tasked with creating matchday kits that unite Nike’s unrivalled pedigree in apparel innovation with Chelsea’s unique character as a club, Nike Football designers have produced clean designs that incorporate Aeroswift Technology – a performance system that enhances breathability, mobility and speed – and represent Chelsea’s most advanced kits to date.

Chelsea’s kits for 2017/18 are advanced pieces of performance design with zoned ventilation panels, optimally-textured fabric to reduce clinging and lightweight construction throughout.

The Chelsea 2017/18 Nike home shirt carries a minimalist aesthetic that is truly modern yet also rooted deeply in the club’s heritage.

A key stage in the design process was ensuring that the blue was a perfect match for the club’s specific shade of the colour. An original shirt from the early 1970s was used to define the desired blue. Nike Football’s apparel technicians produced a perfect match.

This pure expression of the Chelsea’s blue is allied with contemporary design details and Nike Aeroswift technology to deliver a kit fit for Champions. The round neckline includes a white trim with “CHELSEA” knitted into the back of the neck in white text, whilst the blue shorts feature white stripes on the flanks. These, along with blue stripes on the sides of the shirt, expand when the player is in motion to enhance ventilation.

“THE BLUES” is knitted onto the inside cuff of the right sleeve, whilst the left sleeve is adorned with “EST. 1905,” a nod to the year of the club’s foundation. A blue “CFC” motif, meanwhile, is featured on the front of the white socks that integrate NikeGrip technology for the ultimate boot-to-foot connection.

Chelsea has emerged as London’s most successful club in recent years, claiming an impressive array of major trophies – 18 in total for the men’s side over the past two decades. Meanwhile, Chelsea Ladies FC have triumphed with the FA Cup and FA Women’s Super League double in 2015, and the FA Women’s Super League Spring Series title in 2017. The club’s Academy has won the past four FA Youth Cups.

The dominant colour of the Chelsea FC Nike 2017/18 away kit nods to this record. The shirt and shorts are white with a soft silver hue to reflect the club’s ever-growing collection of silverware. Chelsea’s blue is the secondary colour throughout the kit, highlighting the trim on the round neck, ventilation stripes on the shorts and providing a block of colour for the NikeGrip socks.

As with the home kit, a fusion of technology and club heritage details combine to create a modern kit that feels truly Chelsea. Nike Aeroswift innovation provides a lightweight chassis for the modern game with advanced garment technology, facilitating football at its fastest, whilst the same references – “CHELSEA”, “EST. 1905” and “THE BLUES” – are embedded into the fabric.
