Chapecoense 2017 Copa Libertadores Umbro Kit

Rebuilding following last November’s tragic plane crash that killed 71 people including most of their first team, Associação Chapecoense de Futebol unveiled their 2017 Copa Libertadores Umbro kit on Thursday.

The first Chape kit released since last year’s tragedy, the new shirt uses a darker shade of green than the Brazilian club’s traditional home jerseys. It uses a bespoke design from Umbro Brasil featuring a standing collar that opens to a rounded neckline at its front.

It is detailed in light green at its collar base and sleeve cuffs. The Chapecoense 2017 Copa Libertadores kit has a series of fine tonal stripes built into its fabric. Diagonal lines with ventilation holes criss cross the shirt.

A silver star above the Chapecoense crest recognizes the club’s 2016 Copa Libertadores title. A second star appears within the “F” of the badge as a memoriam to those who perished in last year’s plane crash.

The jersey’s jocktag has a map of South America with Brazil highlighted and containing the club’s stylized initials of “ACF”. “Chape na Libertadores da América 2017. Obrigado, eternos guerreiros” (Chape in the Libertadores of America 2017. Thank you eteranal warriors.) is printed next to the map as a tribute to the 2016 Chapecoense  team.
