Flamengo 2016/17 adidas Home Kit

Brazilian giants Clube de Regatas do Flamengo the released their 2016 adidas home kit. It is now on sale at World Soccer Shop.

The shirt is inspired by the adidas home jersey worn by the Rubro-Negro (Scarlet-Black) when it won the 1981 Copa Libertadores da América and Intercontinental Cup titles. Like the 1981 Flamengo home shirt it features wide red and black stripes, a v-neck and a pinstripe finish on the sleeves.

“The jersey is a complement to one of the club’s finest moments and the supporters who were always there on the Maracanã Stadium – they still hold the record for higher audience in the Championship”, says André Xavier, Product Manager in adidas Brazil He also remembers the amazing marks of the 80’s, when Flamengo had a public average of 86.063 fans, a record that remains unmatched.

CR Flamengo will debut their 2016/17 adidas home kit when they host Sport Recife at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium on Saturday.

Last Campeonato Brasileiro Série A champions in 2009, Flamengo finished last season in a disappointing twelfth place in Brazil’s top tier of soccer.
