Defending AFC Asian Cup champions Australia debuted their 2016/17 Nike home kit during their 7-0 win over Tajikistan in Adelaide on Thursday.

The all-yellow uniform was unveiled along with an dark blue away strip that will be worn by the Australian men’s (Socceroos) and women’s (Matildas) football teams over the next year. Both will be available at at World Soccer ShopSubside SportsLovell SoccerUK Soccer Shop and Kitbag.

Not well received by Australia’s fans because of its use of yellow shorts, the Australia 16/17 home kit sports a subtle graphic on the shirt representing the iconic Wave Rock in Western Australia. The Aussies’ dark obsidian blue away kit celebrates the country’s surf culture and further accentuates its spectacular coastline with a unique shirt motif.

“Our new kits capture the spirit of our team, our national pride and our determination to succeed on the international stage,” confirms Mathew Leckie, a striker for the Socceroos. “They also help me to stay comfortable throughout the match and stay focused on the game.”

Stripes, green for home and blue for away, run down the sides of the shirts and shorts. Expanding when the player is in motion, they maximize ventilation and reveal bold flashes of underlying yellow.

In the home kit, green socks showcase a linear yellow graphic on the calf while the away kit’s socks feature the same colors inverted.
