PUMA and the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF) have launched the home and away kits that the team will wear during 2016 Copa America Centenario and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers during the 2016/17 soccer calendar. The home kit will debut on pitch this Friday 25th of March, when “La Celeste” play against Brazil at the Pernambuco Arena in Recife. Both shirts will be available for purchase at World Soccer Shop, Subside Sports, Lovell Soccer, UK Soccer Shop and Kitbag from today.
The blue Uruguayan sky and the sun in the National flag inspired the design of the 2016/17 home kit that Uruguay will wear to write a new chapter in the rich football history of the “La Celeste” team. Every detail was carefully designed, and for this edition the color black returns to the shirt with a stripe on the shoulders, something that hasn’t been seen since 2008. The “May Sun”, main characteristic and emblem of the National flag, is placed strategically in the middle of the shirt.
The AUF badge was renovated to reflect a modern design, through an innovative design called “Photo Realistic” which allows it to be seen with a higher definition. On the back a transfer with the word “Uruguay” to reflect the passion and pride of the Uruguayan football fans.
For the Uruguay 2016 Copa América away shirt, PUMA took the stripes of the national flag as inspiration and created an innovative design which clearly shows who the team are and where they are headed.
Uruguay’s new home and away jerseys features PUMA’s new apparel technology ACTV Thermo-R, strategically inserted in both the front and the back of the shirt to help players maintain an optimum body temperature.
A unique phase-change material is injected into the shirt’s inner athletic tape which allows microcapsules to absorb excess heat and release it back to the body when needed. The taping in the shirt provides an extra snug fit, micro-massaging the skin in specific areas to provide a faster, more effective energy supply to the active muscles.
