What’s special about Aspire?

Anyone who wears glasses or sunglasses will know that weight can often be a problem particularly with today’s popular plastic frames. You can often for metal frames but they may not truly reflect your style and can be uncomfortable by digging into the wrong places (the side of your head or nose). They’re also quite fragile.

Enter Aspire Eyewear with a frame materials straight from a sci-fi movie. Here are the specifics of their patented products:

Aspire Eyewear is created with SDN-4, a specially designed nylon material proprietary to the brand. Designed for the manufacture of extremely lightweight eyewear with exceptional thinness, the hypoallergenic SDN-4 material is incredibly strong and durable, offering shape memory, heat resistance, and will not fade in UV exposure. Using customized SDN-4 sheet material, Aspire frames are not injected, but created with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery to produce unique shapes and endless color possibilities.

The entire Aspire collection was designed using 3D technology, significantly reducing prototype development from 20 weeks to 20 minutes in most cases. Using this innovative technology in its design process will allow the brand to quickly respond to emerging eyewear and experiment with inventive design options.

The result are frames that are 50 percent lighter than a typical plastic frame, 50 percent thinner than a typical plastic frame, 22 percent lighter than a typical titanium frame.

What Aspire frames did we test?

We dug into Aspire’s launch range to test the Connected glasses frame and Celebrated sunglasses. We tested them by having the glasses fitted with prescription lens and using them on a daily basis while alternating between the sunglasses for driving and outdoor summer use.

What did we find?

After wearing wayfarer-styled glasses and sunglasses similar to the Connected and Celebrated on a daily basis, wearing Aspire’s frames were a relief. They live up to the ultra-lightweight billing with flying colors!  Because of their extreme lightweight and slimness you can easily forget that you even have them on quite easily. Neither creates any discomfort on the sides of the head or nose bright at all.

In terms of appearance (as you can see from the pictures that we took of them) both look exceptional and carry classic styles that also happen to be the rage nowadays. Both were quickly noticed by co-workers and the subject of many compliments. We’ve even had random strangers on our local train asking about where to buy the sunglasses. Our favorite random comment was “Those are some serious sunglasses dude!”

While the Celebrated’s mirrored lens can be replaced with prescription lens, we did not to do so multiple people on our team could review them.  All of our testers thought that the lens that the Celebrated came with were excellent and comparable to the lens on any pair of designer sunglasses today.

In summary, Aspire can be a game changer in the eyewear world. As a team that has gone through countless pairs of glasses and sunglasses, we can attest to their products being among the best eyewear round.
