AS Roma Display Chinese New Year Greeting on Home Kit

Italain Serie A title contenders displayed a Chinese New Year greeting on their 2014/15 Nike home kit during Sunday’s 0-0 league draw with Parma.

The move was announced last week to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year on Thursday, February 19th. China Central Television (CCTV5+) broadcast the meeting with Parma across China on Sunday.

According to AS Roma: The initiative signals the beginning of Roma’s official engagement with Chinese fans and aligns with the club’s vision to become one of the world’s most successful and fan-friendly football clubs through several localized initiatives. “We have many passionate fans in China and we look forward to communicating with them directly through Sina Weibo and other initiatives. We are committed to creating a real connection with fans in China through customized activities in Rome, China and through media platforms,” AS Roma CEO Italo Zanzi said.

Currently in second place in the Serie A, AS Roma has gone without a shirt sponsor since the end of their deal with telecom company Wind in 2013.
