Seven-time Japanese J. League Division 1 champions and AFC Champions League knockout rounds regulars Kashima Antlers presented their highly anticipated 2014 Nike home and away kit to the press on Monday.
The red home and away Kashima 2014 Nike jerseys both use a new simplistic v-neck, checkered design from the soccer division of the American sporting goods manufacturer. The checkered look is inspired by the fur of the deer that appears on the club’s badge and that are present in the Kashima area in great numbers. Both incorporate gold in the neck area and sleeve cuffs of the home and away shirts.
Known for their ties to Brazilian football, Kashima Antlers are currently managed by former AS Roma and Sampdoria midfielder Toninho Cerezo. The club finished the 2013 J1 season in fifth place, missing AFC Champions League qualification on goal difference.
