HERZOGENAURACH, GERMANY (17 January, 2014) – PUMA has introduced a football apparel innovation that will feature in all its partnered team’s 2014 FIFA World Cup™ National Team playing kits.
PUMA PWR ACTV is a next level performance collection, with first-to-market use of both athletic taping and compression within the apparel. The shirt, fitted shorts and shinguards feature ACTV tape that is strategically placed within the garment to provide micro-massages on the skin, working with the human body to help maximise performance and provide players with a faster, more effective energy supply to the active muscles.
The ACTV tape is placed in strategic positions on the shirt to fulfil different functions and results, creating a combined effect that supports physiological performance. Tape on the front of the shirt is designed to relax the midriff for deeper breathing and stimulate the abdominal muscles for stability and balance. Tape on the back of the shirt is located on the shoulder blades and lower back, helping assist posture and increase stability.
The new PWR ACTV technology has been tested with professional youth teams from VFB Stuttgart in Germany and Botafogo FR in Brazil, ensuring the product is tested in varied weather conditions and player physiologies, to ensure comfort, freedom of movement and consistent enhanced performance. PUMA’s partnered National Teams including 2014 FIFA World Cup qualified teams Italy, Chile, Uruguay, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Switzerland, Cameroon and Algeria were also involved in the product development.
Sebastien Thiney, Head of PLM Teamsport Apparel at PUMA explained. “The new PUMA PWR ACTV technology will support football player’s natural power and helps them optimize their performance. We have created a product that takes compression technology and next to skin athletic taping, combining and applying these to a performance product in an innovative way. The new PWR ACTV apparel brings these technologies to footballers around the world as a simple and easy to wear solution.”
Player’s from PUMA’s partnered National Teams will wear team kits with PUMA PWR ACTV technology. The Home and Away National Kits will be launched in March 2014.
