adidas Argentum – The Official 2014 Ball of the Asociación del Futbol Argentino

adidas Argentina has launched the Argentum soccer ball. It will be the official ball for all of the tournaments run by the Asociación del Futbol Argentino (AFA) for 2014. This includes the top-tier Primera División, second tier Primera B Nacional and Copa Argentina.

The new ball made its match debut on Saturday, January 11 in a 1-1 pre-season draw between River Plate and Estudiantes de La Plata at the Torneo de Verano (Summer Tournament) in Mar del Plata.

According to adidas, the Argentum uses colors that characterize Argentine football via a range of blue that includes the sky blue of the Argentina national flag. Gold in included in recognition of the achievements of Argentine football over the years including winning the 1978 and 1986 World Cups. The Argentum uses the same ball technology as the Brazuca, the official match ball of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
