The Germany 2014 World Cup home shirt is in the team’s traditional white with the red and black German national flag featured throughout. It is the first German national team jersey to include the recently updated DFB badge. Three chevron-shaped bands appear on the chest area of the kit in differing shades of red. The design is meant to be a new interpretation of Germany’s flag.
In a departure from Germany’s traditional black home shorts, 2014/15 home kit is completed by predominantly white shorts and socks. Like the new German national team jersey, the shorts and socks feature red and black elements.
“The white shorts symbolise the ease of play of the German game. It is a statement of class, elegance and love of the game,” said Jürgen Rank, Chief Designer for football apparel at adidas.
Philipp Lahm, German team captain: “It’s great that the new outfit is one colour from socks to jersey.”
Currently ranked second in the world by FIFA, Germany will wear their 2014 World Cup home kit for the first time in an international friendly against Italy on November 15th in Milan.
