Review: GL Sport Elite Pro Personalized Carbon Fiber Shin Guards

GL Sport has been in the business of making personalized, high-end carbon fiber shin guards for the past few years. We recently had to chance to go through their innovative customization process and try out their top of the line Made in Italy Elite Pro shin guards.

Available at the firm’s website and at select retailers in Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain and Portugal and the United Kingdom, GL Sport’s allows you to provide images to be used on the front of your shin pads. Different images can be used for the left and the right guards.

Since they are made of the latest carbon fiber shells, the GL Sport Elite Pro shin guards are extremely light in weight yet offer significant protection from the blows that your shins will inevitably receive during football matches. They feature neoprene backing for additional low weight and low profile protection. What the shell and backing combine to give is an extremely comfortable yet non-intrusive shin guard using today’s cutting edge technology.

Once on the leg, the GL SPort Elite Pro shin guards fit comfortably under your soccer socks. We found them to contour beautifully to the leg and very much like the neoprene padding. With well-fitting socks, the shin guards stayed in placed during the entire matches used them for.

One thing to note about the GL SPort Elite Pro shin guards is that they will not fit in shin guard sleeves well because of the width of the neoprene outside the carbon fiber shells. Not an overly concerning matter but certainly worth consideration if you prefer sleeves.
