Popular French football club Association Sportive de Saint-Étienne Loire (usually called ASSE or A.S. Saint-Étienne) have launched their 2013/14 home and away kits. The new strips are ASSE’s 80th Anniversary uniforms.
Unveiled on Wednesday ahead of Saint-Étienne’s 80th Anniversary gala, the kits use new adidas designs and contain several features of significance from the club’s history.
The AS Saint-Étienne 2013/14 home kit uses a classic, simple v-neck design in the club’s traditional green. It is inspired by the shirts worn by ASSE from the late 1950 to mid-1970s when Saint-Étienne won nine of its ten Ligue 1 titles. The club’s original crest from 1933 is printed on the shirt’s inside upper back.
Saint-Étienne’s 13/14 away jersey uses a more contemporary look. The black shirt is accented with a partially green collar, adidas shoulder stripes and side panels.
Green panther claw marks appear on the right lower front of the shirt in reference to ASSE’s adopted symbol since the 1960s.
