Up-Close: USA Rugby 2013/14 Canterbury Alternate Sevens Jersey

The USA Rugby 2013/14 home, away and sevens jerseys from Canterbury of New Zealand were released last month. They are all now available World Rugby Shop and Canterbury.

With the Rugby World Cup Sevens kicking off on June 28th in Moscow, Russia, this is Football Fashion’s World Exclusive up-close look at United States 2013 Canterbury alternate rugby sevens jersey.

The shirt shown is the “Pro” that is slightly looser fitting than the player-issued “Test” version in order to varying accommodate fan physiques which may be different from the likes of Team USA speed sensation Carlin Isles and his teammates.

Made of a tough stretch polyester fabric the USA 2013 alternate rugby sevens jersey is constructed to endure the pulling and tackles of rugby matches. At the same time, it remains comfortable on the skin and wicks away sweat rapidly. Though not a player issue shirt, it ranks with some of the best rugby shirts around today in terms of functionality.

One of the nice design elements of the jersey are its new curved side body seams meant to provide ruggers with a grip point whilst binding in scrums.  The brand new Canterbury Loop 21.2 neckline also looks great but is deceivingly strong and can well withstand the inevitable shirt grabbing at the neck that occurs in rugby.

Of the four new USA rugby jerseys that The Eagles will wear in 2013, the sevens alternates shirt uses the darkest colorway. Predominantly in the away navy blue worn by all American national teams, the kit has red and white elements to ensure that all of the colors of the USA flag are represented.

These are well put together in shirt by the use of white sleeve cuffs, a red and white sponsor area, and a red inner rear neckline. Prominent large white stars on the sleeves and a USA patch complete matters for a great-looking looking rugby jersey! If you are a rugby fan or shirt collector, this is definitely worth getting!
