Botafogo 2012/13 PUMA Retro Jerseys

Published on

Featuring former Netherlands, FC Barcelona and AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas (usually called Botafogo) is currently in seventh place in the with one match to play in the 2012 season.

As the team winds down its latest campaign, Botafogo has released a series on four retro jerseys from kit provider PUMA in recognition of several milestones in its 118 year history.

The range includes a black shirt worn based on that worn by the club during its first season in 1894. A long-sleeved kit in the club’s traditional black and white stripes is inspired by that worn in 1910 when Botafogo won its second Carioca state championship and earned the nickname “O Glorioso” (The Glorious One).

A 1934 v-neck jersey in the range uses the design of Botafogo’s first short sleeve shirt from 1934. Finally, a black collared kit is patterned after the 1968 shirt worn when Botafogo won the Taça Brasil (the predecessor to the Campeonato Brasileiro).
