On November 4, former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar will compete in his second New York City Marathon. He is running to raise awareness and funds for the Edwin Van Der Sar Foundation, a charity he founded after his wife suffered a brain hemorrhage three years ago. Funds raised through his participation will go to the foundation, which aims to improve treatment for brain damage.
In the USA, the race broadcast will be available live at 9:00 a.m. ET on ESPN2 , and at 7:00 a.m. ET on WatchESPN.com and via the WatchESPN app. ABC will also present a two-hour national broadcast at 4 p.m.
