The Federazione Italiana Rugby recently signed a technical sponsorship deal with adidas that will run until 2017.
As part of the commencement of the new partnership the Italy adidas 2012/13 home and alternate kits were unveiled in Rome on Thursday. Both will feature during the 2013 Six Nations tournament. The home shirt is now available at World Rugby Shop. Both will also be available at Kitbag Rugby and Lovell Rugby.
For the first time the Italy home rugby kit will be completely blue while the away uniform will utilize an all white colorway with blue accents.
Current Italian national team players Mirco Bergamasco, Tommaso Benvenuti, Simone Favaro, Giulio Toniolatti, Alberto Sgarbi and Edoardo Gori were present to model the new kits.
To support the launch of new jersey, adidas has launched the “Voci de Rugby” (“Voice of Rugby”) campaign which will give fans the opportunity for to make their voices heard about Italian rugby.
A new feature of the Italy adidas 12/13 home rugby jersey are the platinum adidas three stripes on the shoulder for increased visibility at every stage of the game. The collar is white with the Italian flag embroidered on the back.
The Italian rugby team is currently ranked eleventh in the world by the IRB and has qualified for every Rugby World Cup to date. However, the Azzurri have yet to progress beyond the pool stage of the competition.
