Up-Close: PUMA Project Pink 2012 Collection

PUMA’s 2012 Project Pink initiative kicked off in July with a brand new collection if  graphic tees and tank tops; a pink hoodie, shorts, capris, and the requisite pink soccer gear including soccer balls, shin guards, and goalie gloves.

The entire range is now available at  Shop.PUMA.comSoccer.com, and other partner retailers across the country.

Here is an in-person look at some of the 2012 PUMA Project Pink range with thoughts on them from one of our women’s soccer gear experts at Football Fashion.

Project Pink Graphic Tee

I don’t know where to start with all the things I love about this t-shirt!  The most important thing I think Puma got right with this shirt was the fit.  I never know if a small will be too small or if a medium will look like a tent on me.  I was so delighted that the small fit perfectly!

It is cut like an hourglass to show off the natural curves of a woman.  I have more of an athletic build so I can completely appreciate it!  It isn’t one of those square/boxy type shirts. I love that It hugs the figure, but not too tight.

I also love how the sleeves are a perfect length, they are more of a cap sleeve ending at the end of the shoulder vs mid bicep.  I appreciate this as when I run, I have a tendency to , pull up my sleeves and to my excitement they stayed in place.

Also when I wore the t-shirt out at the store, the top of the sleeve lands in a perfect spot to show off all the hard work I put in at the gym – my triceps and biceps! Overall I would say that this shirt gets a 10 out of 10!  I love the material (it isn’t that heavy cotton), the design is super cute and who doesn’t love anything pink!

On top of that it promotes breast cancer awareness.  What could make a girl any more happy?  Well done Puma you get the Olympic Gold for this one!  Not only can I show this off for Breast Cancer Awareness in October, but I can rock it all year long!

Project Pink Shorts

The first thing that will catch your eye on these shorts are the pink ribbon drawstrings, what else could be more fitting for a pair of Project Pink Shorts!  I also love the flat elastic waistband.  This allows for superior comfort and it doesn’t bunch up or cause the muffin top that traditional elastic bands do.

The shorts are made up of the USP moisture management material which helps draw the sweat and moisture away from your skin to help keep you comfortable and dry throughout your workout!

The feel of the fabric is lightweight and silky. I have the size small and the inseam is 3 inches, which makes them the perfect length for running, walking, truly any workout. Pair them a Project Pink t-shirt, with some knee high socks and a pair of Puma shoes for the ultimate fashion statement!

I must also add, the graphics on the shorts are so super cute!  On one side there is a graphic of a soccer ball that says “This is My Project” and on the front of the short is the pink ribbon with “Project Pink” and a mini soccer ball.

The graphics are understated and super cute. The Puma designers have really outdone themselves this year with the Project Pink Wear!  With 100% of their profits being donated to pink-worthy causes, I am certain they will exceed all donation goals!

Project Pink Gym Bag
First off, let me say, when I saw the MSRP for the Project Pink Carry Sack, I was like, NO WAY!  Even right  now as I am typing this, I can’t believe that this bag is only listed as $10.  The quality and construction is outstanding and surpasses any other bag I have seen at this price point.

Seriously, I have gone on line now shopping to get more of these bags to give as gifts!  Ok, so what do I mean by quality and construction. Well, the material is thicker than the carry sack I am currently using.  the front of the bag is made out of a heavy duty canvas and the back of the bag is a heavy polyester.  I feel like if I throw my gym stuff in there, I don’t have to worry about a tear ((yes, sometimes, like most gals I know, I tend to over pack my bag)).  I am always one that look at construction first, material second and aesthetics third.  I have to say, Puma nailed each one perfectly!

I love, love, love that they made Puma logo out of the Pink ribbon.  I mean, how cool is that!  Whoever thought that up is amazing!  I know I will be the envy of all my friends at the fields and the gym!  I mean, what a win for the consumer, a fantastic, well built, fashionable bag, PLUS 100% of the profits are being donated to a pink-worthy cause!   Keep up the great work Puma!

Thanks to Nicole and Sarah!
