Ranked 28th in the world, the Slovenia national soccer team has been recognized by FIFA since 1992 following the country declaring independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. The Slovenia team has since qualified for EURO 2000 and 2008 and the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.

Slovenia’s national team currently features a host of well-known players plying their trades in some of Europe’s major leagues. They include MiÅ¡o Brečko (1. FC Köln), Valter Birsa (Genoa) and Aleksandar Radosavljevič (ADO Den Haag).

On Friday, the Slovenia Nike 2012/13 home kit was officially launched by the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) (Slovene: Nogometna zveza Slovenije) at the Hervis sporting goods store at City park in Ljubljana. The new kit will be used by Slovenia in May’s UEFA Under-17 Championships. It is expected to be worn by the senior men’s national team for the first time on September 7th when the Slovenes host Switzerland in both teams’ first 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The new Slovenia Nike 2012/13 away kit was launched in February and worn during a 1-1 tie with Scotland.
