The Tampa Bay Rowdies are a professional soccer club based in Tampa, Florida, USA. Founded in 2008 as FC Tampa Bay, the team currently plays in the North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.
The Rowdies are the first professional soccer team from the Tampa-St. Petersburg area since the folding of MLS’ Tampa Bay Mutiny 2001. The club is managed by Luton Town legend and former England international Ricky Hill.
On Friday night, the Tampa Bay Rowdies Lotto 2012 home and away kits were officially launched at Jonny Reno’s on the Pier in St. Petersburg. According to the club’s website:
Season ticket holders had an exclusive opportunity to see the new merchandise first, including the new Tampa Bay Rowdies match kits. Head coach Ricky Hill introduced Rowdies players Andres Arango, Stuart Campbell, Frankie Sanfilippo and Takuya Yamada, who unveiled the new kits to the fans. Following the release of the new gear, the entire team signed autographs and took photos with Rowdies season ticket holders.
The 2012 Rowdies Home and Away Kits are throwbacks to the 1975-1984 Rowdies, featuring the Rowdies logo across the chest with the Rowdies famous Green and Gold hooped sleeves and socks. The back of the jersey features the words Tampa Bay under the collar and the left sleeve features the North American Soccer League logo. The kit numbers include the custom Rowdies font.
Team partners Mainsail Suites and United World Soccer are also featured on the kits. This year’s kits stay true to the tradition and iconic look of the Rowdies, Tampa Bay’s first-ever professional sports franchise.
