Eleven time Swedish champions AIK Stockholm have unveiled their adidas 2012/13 home jersey. The new kit celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the club’s legendary stadium – the Råsunda.
According to a press release from adidas (translated from Swedish):
On April 18, 1937, AIK played the opening match at Rasunda, a 4-0 win over Malmo FF. 75 years later this historic venue marks it last season – a fact highlighted in this year’s shirt from adidas. The new kit features the words of AIK’s famed song on its inner upper back area: “Far have I traveled and much have I seen, but on my team, I never get enough. Storms have raged, but the wind has turned, and it takes me back to Råsunda’s grass!”
“AIK has the strongest and most vibrant fan culture, so that the lines from a song that is heard from Råsundas stands now entering our shirt feels completely natural. The last year at the Råsundas is obviously special and the club will make it a season to remember”, says Andreas Alm, head coach of AIK.
The new match shirt is in classic AIK-black with details in yellow. The shirt will be used during the final year at Råsunda and first season at the Arena, the new home stadium for AIK from 2013.
The campaign material for the new shirt also includes club icon for the last thirteen seasons – Daniel Tjernström. It includes a video good old “Tjerna” gearing up in the AIK 2012/13 home kit and making his way down the tunnel towards the Rasunda’s pitch.
