Ranked 27th in the world, the Slovenia national soccer team has been recognized by FIFA since 1992 following the country declaring independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. The Slovenia team has since qualified for EURO 2000 and 2008 and the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
Slovenia’s national team currently features a host of well-known players plying their trades in some of Europe’s major leagues. They include MiÅ¡o BreÄko (1. FC Köln), Valter Birsa (Genoa) and Aleksandar RadosavljeviÄ (ADO Den Haag).
Earlier this week the Slovenia Nike 2012/13 away kit was officially launched by the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) (Slovene: Nogometna zveza Slovenije) in Portorož. It was worn for the first time in match action in Wednesday’s 1-1 international friendly draw with Scotland.
The new Slovenia home kit is expected later this year. It will feature the country’s national colors of white, blue and red for the first time since 1994.
