Coventry City PUMA 2012 FA Cup Kit

Published on

English Football Championship side Coventry City FC has launched a limited edition PUMA jersey for use in this season’s FA Cup. According to the club website:

THE Sky Blues will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the club picking up the FA Cup by wearing a 1987-style strip for this season’s third round tie against Southampton.

The blue and white striped shirt with navy shorts and sky socks is a throwback to the season when City overcame all the odds to make it through to the final where they beat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley.

Should Coventry progress through the rounds this season, they will wear the kit for home matches and, where possible, on their travels too…

Some may notice the club’s kit sponsor City Link is missing from the replica shirt.

To protect the heritage of the shirt City Link kindly agreed to not have their logo on the 1987 limited edition shirts celebrating the historic cup win. However the logo will be added to the players’ shirts being worn during Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Southampton.

The Coventry City PUMA 2011/12 home kit was unveiled in April 2011. The one-time English Premier League regulars are wearing the same away strip worn during the 2010/11 season for a second year in succession.
