New Zealand defeated Argentina 33-10 at Eden Park on Sunday in the quarter finals of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The All Blacks advance to a semi-final meeting with Australia in their quest for their first title since 1987.
A tenacious Argentina defence kept the The All Blacks from crossing the try-line until Kieran Read’s effort in the 67th minute. However, scrum-half Piri Weepu kept the hosts in the game until then with seven penalties.
Brad Thorn and Aaron Cruden secured the victory for New Zealand with a late try and a conversion respectively.
