David Villa scored twice to lead FC Barcelona in a 5-0 thrashing of Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in El Clásico on Monday. The result sees Barca replace Real Madrid atop the Spanish La Liga table with 34 points. Real falls to second place on 32 points.

Xavi Hernandez and Pedro Rodriguez opened the scoring to put Barcelona 2-0 ahead within 18 minutes before Villa’s  second-half brace. Substitute Jeffren Suarez scored a stoppage time goal to complete the rout in this week’s most anticipated European matchup.
