Umbro and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) launched the Republic of Ireland 2010/11 away kit earlier this week. The retro-looking jersey’s release follows February’s launch of the Ireland Umbro 10/11 home kit.
According to the Umbro Ireland website:
UMBRO are delighted to officially unveil the New Ireland Change Kit. The kit has been given a complete makeover with a darker shade of green or ‘St Patrick’s Green’, being used as the secondary colour and the new version of the FAI crest trimmed in green and gold. The new “tailored” design smashes performance and style together .
The new design tailored by UMBRO looked at all the elements that are important to the player and fans alike including heritage, identity, performance, effortless function and a tailored fit. The design team wanted to understand the motion of the football player and looked at ergonomic football forms rather than having a garment created on an existing muscular body form. The result is the creation of a football specific form which takes into account the shape of the body when playing football.
