Video: FC Barcelona 1 –Espanyol 0 (Spanish La Liga Highlights)

Spanish La Liga leader FC Barcelona defeated local rival Espanyol 1-0 today in its last game before travelling to the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup.

In a somewhat subdued performance, the Catalan giants’ only goal came from a Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty in the 39th-minute following a foul on Xavi Hernandez by Baena.

Barcelona retains it lead in the standings with 39 points. Real Madrid has 31, Valencia 28, Sevilla 27 and Deportivo La Coruna 25.

Real Madrid and Valencia are currently playing each other at the Mestalla.
