The Deutschland Fussball Bund (DFB) has officially launched the Germany adidas World Cup 2010 home kit (or jersey or trikot if you prefer).
According to the DFB’s website:
The jersey in traditional white, for the first time including three stripes in black, gold and red on the sleeve , was introduced during an event in Herzogenaurach, the home of DFB equipment supplier adidas. DFB coach Joachim Löw, Captain Michael Ballack, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker and Franz Beckenbauer unveiled the jersey to the public.
“The new jersey gives us an extra spark for the upcoming preparation for the 2010 World Cup”, said Ballack.
The new Germany adidas World Cup 2010 home kit will see action on the field for the first time on November 14th and 18th when Die Mannschaft host Chile and Ivory Coast in friendly matches.
Notable features of the Germany adidas World Cup 2010 home short include:
- Germany’s new home kit pays tribute to their World Cup successes of 1954, 1974 and 1990.
- The 11 lines represent 11 players and one team which highlight the important of Teamgeist (team spirit).
- The away kit features a simple black design with special trim details that commemorate the first German team from 1898.
