Pictures: How to Not Become a Professional Soccer Player

[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/Pictures_How_Not_to_Become_a_Professional_Soccer_Player]During last night’s Brazilian Serie A league match between São Paulo FC and Internacional an aspiring young footballer invaded the pitch in the 33rd minute of the first half.

“So what’s the big deal?” you may ask.

Well this was a case of a young player attempting to break into the big time. Instead of trying the reality show route to fame, homeboy stormed the field in a football kit (including socks and boots) and a Nike training shirt that had the following text printed on it:

Eu só quero uma oportunidade para ser jogador de futebol

For the non-Brazilian Portuguese speakers amongst us, that translates into:

I want an opportunity to be a football player.

São Paulo players Dagoberto and Miranda had a few words of advice or consolation for the young man as he was dragged off the field in a headlock by what appears to be the team’s bouncers.

League-leading São Paulo went on the win the game 1-0.

We prefer the approach of the Barnsley FC pitch invaders who managed to put a volley past Manchester United’s Ben Foster in Tuesday’s Carling Cup.
