The 2010 African Cup of Nations kicks off on January 10th. With the growing significance of African players plying their trades for the European soccer superpowers, next year’s tournament is sure to draw a great degree of attention from fans around the world. Some of the big names on show are expected to be Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, Solomon Kalou (Côte d’Ivoire), Michael Essien (Ghana) and Inter Milan’s Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon) and Sulley Muntari (Ghana).
Thus far, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia and Algeria have qualified for the tournament and will join hosts Angola for Africa’s foremost football tournament. Perennial African powers Cameroon and Morocco are expected to join them.
In anticipation of the 2010 African Cup of Nations, long-time sponsor of multiple African teams, Puma, have unveiled the 2010 kits for Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco and Cameroon.
All of the kits have a definite retro look about them. The home kits feature watermarks that Puma has used in recent times for national football kits. For example, the right shoulder of the Cameroon home kit features a watermarked lion reflective of the team’s nickname – The Indomitable Lions.
